Vivendo em plena pandemia do Covid-19, em confinamento, consumimos menos, gastamos menos recursos e temos um reflexo indireto: menos matéria-prima para produção de bens de consumo não essenciais e redução da poluição atmosférica. Neste caso a natureza agradece!
E como ficou a tua alimentação neste período?
Ainda que, com os resultados de estudos que sustentam a conclusão de que, entre os padrões alimentares saudáveis, aqueles que consomem mais alimentos à base de plantas e que contem menores quantidades de alimentos à base de animais seriam benéficos para a sustentabilidade ambiental (o que já falamos por aqui outras vezes).
A verdade é que muitas famílias que vivem em locais onde o acesso a comida verdadeira estava condicionado tiveram que optar mais por alimentos processados e enlatados (não vamos julgar, foram as opções que tiveram no momento perante a disponibilidade física e também mental). Contudo, outras famílias consumiram mais produtos locais e optaram por melhorar os seus hábitos alimentares reduzindo o consumo de carne que tinha um custo mais elevado e aumentaram o consumo de alimentos à base de plantas (plant based food).
Contudo, começasse a perceber que são importantes as mudanças na dieta implementadas ao lado de transições baseadas em evidências para práticas agrícolas mais sustentáveis e ecologicamente informadas, reduções de desperdício em toda a cadeia de suprimentos e redistribuição equitativa de energia. Também, aumentar os recursos serão fundamentais para o cumprimento da sustentabilidade.
Mas, enquanto aguardamos posicionamentos e orientações no âmbito da saúde pública, cabe a cada um de nós repensarmos nossas práticas alimentares e de consumo, o pouco que contribuirmos já melhoramos muito num todo.
